About this instrument
Nyoli is sung, not performed — voices calling across terraced fields and forest paths, carrying distance the body can't. It's one of the oldest forms of long-range communication in the Kumaon hills, older than the roads that now connect these villages. What you're hearing wasn't written for a stage.
